Some people, who are not really into boxing or any kind of sport, once have seen boxing might think that why this is called sport when two fighters beat each other up and some of them get badly injured and it’s true that there are a few died because of it.
What I think is, you can get hurt in any kind of sport. Like football or rugby for example, why a bunch of big guys run INTO each other! Don’t they get hurt? Of course they do! And you still enjoy watching it.

Boxer is not like gladiator. A gladiator fights and kills to survive, no rules, no judge, no referee. Boxing is totally different. The fighters are there by their own choice. No one forces them to fight. They have to respect to rule, and never underestimate their opponent. Even before each fight, boxers need to have their body and health checked to see if they are perfectly healthy and good to fight. It’s not like they will be sent to get killed.
Moreover not anyone can be in the ring. It takes time and is required lots skills. Most Muay Thai boxers for example, they are trained at young age. It’s great to see two skillful boxers fight. It’s not all about hitting each others. Body strength is not the only important thing here. Brain must be used!
Just like all kind of sports, boxing is great to keep you healthy physically and mentally. It is even a great reliever! Another good way to control your weight!
IMO, if you look deeper, there are so much more about boxing. There is nothing cruel about it even it’s a bit bloody. For me, it’s about passion, opportunities, job, money to feed family. The sport can really inspire some people, getting them out of the weakness.
Since boxing also represent Thai nation. I always encourage people to try this sport and always support them. In fact, if you don’t try it yourself, you won’t see what goodness of it will affect your life.
