Maybe the reason is because the fighters have the chance to mix up many fighting techniques from different martial arts and use them to fight against the opponent make the sport much more fun. The fighters are allowed to use the grappling technique and that explains why the gloves are called grappling gloves and you can see the fingers after putting them on. But if you really need to use your fingers that bad in grappling the opponent, why need the gloves? Why can’t you just fight with the bare hands or just using the hand wraps?

The reason that gloves are crucial is because of the safety. It is possible that you might get cut in the hands while fighting and it will affect the fight duration. So be able to fight with your full efficiency you must be in 100% good state. No cuts or injuries of the hands should come in between the fight.

As you can see, the product I chose to review today is a pair of Hand Wrap. But what’s so special about this very pair of handwraps? Well these are one of the very few Muay Thai handwraps made by Windy. Comparing to other brands, I think windy’s products are more expensive but that’s because I also think they have a little bit higher quality. Like this item for example. I think Windy’s hand wraps are a bit thicker and softer. But then you just have to try because the prices differ only about 1$ from other brands’ hand protectors.

It is recommended to own at least a few pairs of boxing hand wraps. Since it is good to have them clean every time you use them and let them dry completely before the next use. Me myself have about 5 pairs just like socks that you must have spares. And they don’t last that long if you ask me, so whenever I feel that the elastic fabric is starting to get loose I will get another new pair. And that the safety is quite a pretty good reason to get new gear.

And I personally love this pair of Windy handwraps. I mean I don’t see any other boxing factories make fist wraps in this very color. Actually the balm and oil products are quite important and the must have in Thailand’s household. The uses of the balm are plenty. For example, white balm and red balm.

White Tiger Balm and Red Tiger Balm

These products can be used by inhaling and/or applying onto the skin. Since they contain Menthol, Camphor, Cajuput oil, Clove oil and Mint oil, they can help you relax and clear your nostrils when you feel dizzy or sick and have blockage when breathing. The warmth from the balm will help relieve the pain and sprains. Thais use these for insect bites and bruises.

Num Mun Muay Boxing Liniment 120 cc.

But for boxers, boxing liniment is a must have. We boxers use the boxing liniment or sometimes known as Nam Man Muay or Muay Oil before and after training or fighting. It is believed to provide good relief for any banged-up muscles or shins and bones. This deep healing oil-base product contains Methyl Salicylate, an anti-inflammatory and Menthol. The hot oil will help preventing and treating the pain that can come from any tough and full-contact sports just like Muay Thai Boxing.

If you haven’t tried any of these products, I really recommend you do try once. They might smell weird at the beginning I admit but it will give you the feel of truly Thai boxing feeling. And these products are not that expensive and very useful to have at hand. There are also discounts for product set.
