For kids, there are separate class groups that focus on the right techniques, respect, discipline and fun. The techniques that these kids will learn are combination of a little bit of everything, from Muay Thai, Karate and boxing. It’s good to train young children how to defense themselves from harms and so much more good things that you will learn from any kinds of training sports. Magic Man

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

It’s time for another great boxing movie that we say that you don’t want to miss. Today’s film is a true story of the Magic Man. This is a documentary film that won the prestigious “Best of the Festival Audience Award” from the Hoboken International Film Festival.

It is the true story of the Magic Man or Paul “Paulie” Malignaggi, a professional boxer from Brooklyn, New York. Young Paulie from a broken home wants to prove his life worth something. He defeats all odds to arrive at the Mecca of boxing. He has proved that everyone else is wrong and has won the WBO Junior Welterweight Title.

In the film, Malignaggi is like a gym rat. He works hard and come from the bottom up and never back down. You can also see that he cannot be rattled by his opponents.

I believe this movie is such an inspiration. It’s full of disappointment, failure, and triumph. The film does cheer people up to fight more for their better lives and worth living. He is also a gifted fighter who many boxers look at as their role model.

I really recommend you to see this film when you get a chance. I am sure that you will agree that this is one best boxing film ever made.

Don’t forget to come back to our website and blog to check out some more interesting films that involve all types of boxing. You can also tell us about your favorite boxing movie so we can share with the others. See you next time.

Girlfight (2000)

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Welcome to MuayThaiSport.com/blog! Here we make you surprised by showing you how many boxing films have been made. Today’s film was directed by Karyn Kurama who did a really great job with this film and stared a new cast Michelle Rodriquez, Jamie Tirelli, Paul Calderon…

GIRLFIGHT is one of the movies I want to recommend. It is full of good spirit. It is one of very few movies about women boxing although women boxing was started quite some time already. I think it is very interesting and you won’t be disappointed from watching it.

Let’s take a look at the movie’s synopsis!

Diana Guzman (Michelle Rodriguez) is a tough high school girl with a violent issue. She has problems at school, and a father who belittles her. With her sad and lonely life, she needs to look for some way to find love, respect and a challenge. She finally finds all of those hopes in the boxing ring at a gritty Brooklyn gym where she starts the training. But the action is against her father’s will. However, eventually, she wins and earns the gym’s championship for female boxers.

It is Rodriguez’s first performance and she did a really great job making her character of Diana Guzman REAL. Guzman is supposed to be a teen girl who has her personality as her advantage. She’s pissed off. The anger makes her win. You can see when she’s pissed and get angry on her appearance. The film is a good example of family problem, social problems, and school problems that teenagers have to go through today. Girlfight is one great story with endurance, strength and willpower. You don’t want to miss this movie!

Check out GIRLFIGHT at your store next door and don’t forget to come back for more great movie with boxing right here! Enjoy the movie!

Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962)

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

After looking at the name and the year, you must know this is gonna be another old boxing film. And I believe most of the people have heard of this name before. Don’t remember? A Peabody Award winner, Requiem for a Heavy weight was originally a teleplay, written by Rod Serling, the writer of The Twilight Zone, Patterns, Seven days in May and Planet of the Apes, for first time on TV on October 11, 1956. The play that was the most famous examples of live television drama in the US really helped establish Serling’s great reputation as a great writer.

Six years later, in 1963, it was put into a film starring Anthony Quinn, Jackie Gleason and Mickey Rooney. This is one of the best films that have to deal with boxing.

This is Rod Serling’s most satisfying movie. See it and you’ll know why.

Movie’s synopsis:

Harlan “Mountain” McClintock has been a professional boxing fighter for about 14 years. He’s been fighting in the ring for more than 110 matches and was once ranked number five among the world’s heavyweight boxers, but when time past. He gets older. And the sad thing of boxing for a long time is, he’s weakened time to time. Now he’s too old to fight and earns less and less money to retire gracefully, while his manager suggests he start fighting crooked or change to wrestling instead. Ed Wynn co-stars as McClintock’s corner man, and Kim Hunter plays a sweet but na?ve social worker.

Just a little something you can watch this coming weekend. You can come back and tell us what you think of the movie. I actually haven’t seen it myself but from what I’ve heard, you won’t be disappointed from this one for sure. Enjoy!
