Muay Thai Gloves Care

Do you find smelly Thai boxing gloves quite disturbing? Well I do. So that’s why I searched for how to care your Muay Thai gloves after use to get rid of the nasty smell and to make the gloves last much longer.

So first you have to know where the smell comes from. Many boxers put their sweaty gloves right back in the locker or bag and leave them there until you want to use them again. Well that’s not good, is it? The secret is to try to get rid of the sweat in the gloves as much as possible before you put them away and once it a while do something with the smell.

After you’re done using your Muay Thai gloves, take care of them by trying to dry them as much as possible. If you got time, just leave them outside in a dry place. If not, cool air dryer or fan work really well. Hot air or too long drying time will not do well to your precious leather boxing gloves.

Now here’s my trick to gid rid of the smell. Chemical stuff is not needed here because I think they are expensive and doesn’t work as good as natural care. I put some charcoals in a clean sock and put it in my locker and/or my bag. I also make little bags of those and put inside of the dry boxing gloves after use and leave them there always when I don’t use them. Charcoals are great for absorbing both smell and moisture. Some might suggest using cedar chips (hamster bedding) which works quite ok and not hard to find.

To take care the outside of the gloves, once in a long while you can rub them with waxy or any leather cleaner (cheap body lotion also works for this) to clean and help soften the leather preventing it from breaking.

Do all this and I can ensure you that your favorite muay thai gloves will last much longer.
