This is our second learning clip of the month. Muay Thai is now a lot of people around the world want to learn and we are here to help you learn Muay Thai by yourself at your own place in case you are in a remote area. However if you’re now a member of a boxing gym, that would be even better because you can practice the move you have learned from the clip and your trainer can help or give you the advice of how to perform the move.

The move we are teaching you today is Muay Thai’s Uppercut or “The Star Gatherer”. This technique will be really effective when the opponent is close. The power of the punch is from bracing against the floor with the foot of the same side of the body as the fist that is being used. Right fist, right foot.

The Uppercut in Thaiboxing or kickboxing can be used to hi chin or solar plexus. The knees should be bent slightly. So should the elbow. And the fist should be punched vertically upwards hitting the target with your knuckle.

Uppercut can be performed by your lead fist or rear fist. Take a look at the clip!

Notes: in Muay Thai Boran, the uppercut is punched horizontally forwards to the solar plexus.
